Hi, I’m Kate!

I fell in love with photography when I was about 15 years old on a family trip to Yosemite National Park in California. We did the Ansel Adams photo hike, I borrowed my mom’s old Canon Rebel, and I was HOOKED. I got a camera of my own and took it with me everywhere. I studied photography in high school and college. I even spent an incredible summer in Italy studying fashion photography and falling more in love with this art. Naturally over time, this business started slowly as a little side gig until one day I took the plunge to do this full time. Best decision EVER! Over a decade later, my passion for photography has only grown deeper. I feel SO blessed to call this my job.

Those who know me will tell you I could carry on a conversation with a brick wall, and I don't ever meet a stranger. I truly love making new friends! My day hasn’t started until I’ve had my coffee, black with a little sugar. I’m NOT a morning person, I’ve tried. However, I never regret waking up for sunrise when I need to! Red wine over white wine, but I honestly just love all the wine. Popcorn is my favorite editing snack, especially white cheddar SmartPop and kettle corn. I am totally obsessed with cats. Especially our cat, Damon Salvatore. (…TVD anyone?) He’s chunky and sweet, and I love him so much. If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve probably seen him!

This is Calder!

He is my best friend in the whole wide world and my biggest supporter. He is my other half in life and in our business. I would not be able to do this job without his constant encouragement and wonderful ideas. He is a wonderful photographer with a unique eye, and I am constantly inspired by his creativity and perspective! Some fun facts about us… We both grew up in Jackson, MS. We met on the tennis team in high school when I was 16 and he was 15. When he joined the team I told my best friend “he’s pretty cute, I would totally date him!” I had a drivers license before him, so I started driving him home from tennis practice every day—the rest is history. We got married on March 17, 2018 (Saint Patrick’s Day) and lived in Nashville for a few years before moving to Colorado Springs in December 2020. Visiting every U.S. National Park is at the top of our bucket list. We love to ski and camp in the mountains with friends. In the summer, Calder loves to fly fish while I enjoy rockhounding in the rivers. We’re always down for road trips, game nights, brewery hopping, hiking, and any excuse to get outside and explore. We’re always planning our next adventure. We dream of having our own camper or van to travel around this beautiful country. There is so much to see!

Jack Johnson said it best, “We’re better together!”

Seriously though, we each bring totally unique aspects to the table in our business, and we truly are better together. I hope we’ve given you some insight about us, our life together, and our enthusiasm for this job! There are so many reason we are passionate about photography, but our favorite part is documenting the intimacy of human connection and those fleeting moments in life. We aim to create photos that gain meaning with time. Photography is about more than poses or fabricated situations to us. It’s about seeing the beauty of humanity—the relationships, experiences and emotions that make up each unique journey. We believe that photos can preserve our most meaningful moments. In the end, what else do we have other than our story? There is power in photography. Your story deserves to be told and remembered even when our natural memories fade. Our hope is for you to look back on your photos and FEEL all over again. You’ll only value these moments more as the years go by. We hope to show you a new perspective of photography by documenting the raw, real moments. So don’t worry about appearances or outfits so much, you are perfect as you are. Let’s have a dang good time together, make real memories, and we’ll snap some photos along the way.

We’d love to be your friends & tell your story.

Reach out and say hi.
We would love to meet you.

xoxo,
Kate & Calder
